MOORHEAD, Minn. (Valley News Live) – The Moorhead Public Library hosted a building farewell party Thursday evening, celebrating memories, milestones and community connections as the library prepares to move to The Loop.

The event featured speakers, refreshments and a mini used book sale. Community members, past board members and former staff shared stories about their time at the current library location.

“Well, you heard the story of the two staff members who got engaged here and they’ve been married over 20 years. Obviously, this building means something to them,” said Megan Krueger, Director of the Moorhead Public Library.

“We have a lot of people who spend a lot of time here. They’re here once a week, some people are here a few times a week. Even if you’re here once a month, it just means something to your life, it’s part of your routine. The new library will do that as well.”

Krueger said organizers brainstormed as a group and developed a list of speakers and community members who have been involved with the library over the years.

“Everyone has a story about their time spent here,” Krueger said.

The new library is set to open in April.
