Listen: North Dakota Corn Growers Association President Paul Thomas’ conversation with The Flag’s Scott Hennen
IOWA – In a speech, President Donald Trump voiced his support for selling E-15 gasoline year-round.
“I am trusting Speaker Mike Johnson, who’s great, and [Senate Majority] Leader John Thune, who’s great, to find a deal that works,” Trump said.
Most of the gas at stations nationwide have a 10% blend of corn-based ethanol in it. E-15 has a 15% blend and is cheaper.
President of the North Dakota Corn Growers Association and Republican State Senator Paul Thomas of Velva applauded the move saying selling E-15 every day would eat up the domestic over-supply of corn.
“Nothing does that quicker and benefits both the corn farmer and the American consumer than that higher blend of ethanol in the gas supply,” Thomas said on “What’s On Your Mind?” on The Flag.
The Natural Resources Defense Council has opposed E-15 saying there’s a lack of adequate testing of the impacts of higher ethanol blends on toxic air pollution from broken tailpipes.
