(Washington, DC) -- The Biden administration is forgiving student loan debt for more than 40-thousand borrowers with disabilities.
The Department of Education took the action after some disabled borrowers had their student loan payments reinstated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Education Secretary Miguel Cardona says borrowers "should not put their health on the line" to declare earnings information during the ongoing emergency.
The Department says borrowers will start seeing their loans return to a discharge status in the coming weeks.
