(Scotland) -- At least six automakers are pledging to phase out gas cars by 2040.
That includes Ford, General Motors, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz. They agree to work toward selling only zero-emissions vehicles. Thirty countries are also joining the pledge, but not the U.S., China and Japan.
The update was revealed at the climate summit in Scotland where the hosts wants governments to do more to reduce carbon emissions by the end of next year.
