(Petropolis, Brazil) -- A rescue mission has been temporarily called off in Brazil where 117 people were killed by a mudslide.

Authorities say over 100 are still missing in the city of Petropolis where heavy rains caused a hillside to collapse into a residential area, burying entire houses in mud.

This week's rainfall was reportedly the heaviest since 1932.
