(Los Angeles, CA) -- Chris Rock is not pressing charges against Will Smith after Smith slapped him on stage at the Academy Awards.
The Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement that it's aware of the incident and that Rock declined to file a police report. After Rock made a joke about Smith's wife, Jada, and her bald head, Smith walked on stage and slapped Rock across the face. After walking back to his seat, Smith yelled at Rock to keep his wife's name out of his mouth.
"What just happened" almost immediately started trending as ABC muted most of the interaction and the Academy later tweeted that it "does not condone violence of any form."
