(WDAY) -- Legendary comic book artist, Neal Adams has passed away at 80-years-old.
Adams was battling sepsis, a life threatening blood disease. Throughout his life he was the artist of countless superheros and villains including the Avengers and Joker.
In 1998, Adams was inducted into the Will Eisner comic Book Hall of Fame, one of the highest honors for comic artist.
