(Buffalo, NY) -- The mayor of Buffalo, New York is praising police for saving lives after Saturday's mass shooting that killed ten people at a supermarket in a predominantly Black neighborhood.

At the same time however, some people who live there are questioning how the alleged shooter, who is white, was allowed to surrender peacefully.

Mayor Byron Brown and top law enforcement officials said Sunday that officers saved a lot of lives and did not need to fire a shot to subdue the 18-year-old suspect.
