(Vatican City) -- Pope Francis won't be going to Africa next month due to ongoing knee issues.

He was scheduled to head to the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan. A Vatican spokesman said the decision to postpone the trip to a later date was made after Francis' doctors requested it.

The statement also noted the Pope is going through therapy. He has been using a wheelchair to get around for some time now.
