(Washington, DC)  -- Americans are taking home a little less money from their jobs.

Real average hourly earnings fell by zero-point-six percent from April to May. Between May of last year and May of this year, average hourly earnings fell by two-and-a-half percent.

The figure was revealed as part of an economic data release which included the May Consumer Price Index report. It said prices have risen eight-point-six percent over the last year. That's the largest year over year increase since December 1981.
