(Atlanta, GA) -- A jury is awarding 100-million dollars to a 69-year-old man who was paralyzed after an Atlanta Police officer shot him with a Taser four years ago.

Jerry Blasingame, who fell and broke his neck after a police officer tased him as he tried to run away, has required around-the-clock care since the July, 2018 encounter.

A federal court jury on Friday agreed with Blasingame's attorney's argument that the officer should have known better than to deploy a Taser on an elderly man and that the officer violated Atlanta Police Department policy.

Blasingame was asking people on the street for money and started to run off when the officer got out of his patrol car.
