(Washington, DC) -- Companies that make medicines for children say they're running around the clock to meet rising demand.

The pediatric medication makers told the White House on Thursday that they're operating 24/7 as parents across the country continue to face medicine shortages brought on by the spread of COVID-19, the flu, and RSV.

The recent surge in respiratory viral spread has led pharmacy chains like Walgreens and CVS to limit the amount of child pain medications customers can buy at one time.

Senior leaders of major medicine manufacturers and distributors met with Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert Califf.
