(Hollywood, CA) -- A studio closely associated with Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and John Wayne is making a comeback.

"Variety" reports Paramount Global is bringing back Republic Pictures.

Paramount chief content licensing officer Dan Cohen says, "We've chosen to revitalize the Republic banner given its storied history of delivering popular movies to a global audience."

Cohen adds a pair of films have already been scheduled as Republic releases. The company with the majestic eagle logo was founded in 1935 by Herbert J. Yates.

Republic would go on to turn out several successful B-pictures the next two decades -- most of them Westerns. It also managed to produce occasional A-films such as "Sands of Iwo Jima" and "The Quiet Man" -- both starring Wayne.

Republic's former lot in Studio City is now the CBS Studio Center.
