(San Francisco, CA) -- Tesla is being ordered to pay an African American former employee roughly three-point-two million in damages as a result of discrimination he suffered working for the electric carmaker back in 2015.

The order came from a San Francisco jury on Monday.

Owen Diaz was initially awarded 137-million in 2021, leading Tesla to seek a retrial and ultimately resulting in the new, very much reduced figure.

Testifying last week, Diaz told the court his colleagues had used racist epithets against him and other Black workers, told him to "go back to Africa" and left racist graffiti and drawings around for him to see, causing him to feel unsafe.
