(Detroit, MI) -- General Motors officials say they will not need to make any salaried job layoffs after enough white-collar workers have agreed to take a voluntary buyout.

CEO Mary Barra says in an email they have saved around a billion-dollars due to cuts announced in February and the employees who chose to leave.

The automaker plans to cut two-billion-dollars from its costs by the end of the year.
