(New York, NY) -- The decision for Fox News to part ways with prime time host Tucker Carlson came from Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch himself.

That's according to a report from the Los Angeles Times, which cited people familiar with the situation.

The newspaper's sources said a number of reasons factored into the decision, including a discrimination lawsuit and Carlson's coverage of the 2021 U.S. Capitol riot.

Monday's announcement also sent Fox Corp. stock tumbling. Shares dropped nearly four percent not long after the news broke.

This also comes as CNN show host Don Lemon was let go from that network as well, something he openly critiqued afterward on social media.
