(Jerusalem) -- Israel is celebrating its 75th anniversary starting Tuesday.

Communities around the world will honor the establishment of the Jewish State through Wednesday.

The holiday is observed based on the date on the Hebrew calendar when the country's founders signed its Declaration of Independence.

It comes as thousands of Israelis filled the streets of Tel Aviv in recent days to protest the prime minister's plans to overhaul the judicial system and tighten his government's control of the Supreme Court.
