McConnell dodges question on Trump verdict

(Washington, DC)  --  Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell says it will be up to the American people to decide if Donald Trump is fit to be president in 2024.

His comments come after a New York jury found Trump sexually abused and defamed writer E. Jean Carroll decades ago in a civil case brought against the former president.

McConnell declined to say whether he accepted the verdict as legitimate.

He said he had no observations about the case, but added Republicans will have to settle it in the primaries next year.
