(Washington, D.C.) -- The House is scheduled to vote this evening on a bill to suspend the debt ceiling for two years.

The bill is the product of the deal President Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy finalized over the weekend. It will be debated on the House floor today, before the vote this evening. The bill cleared a major hurdle Tuesday night, narrowly winning committee endorsement. If the House passes it, it will go to the Senate less than a week before a Monday deadline to act or risk a catastrophic default on the nation's debt.
