(Washington, DC)  --  President Biden is meeting with Sweden's prime minister at the White House Wednesday.

While speaking from the Oval Office, Biden said he's "anxiously" looking forward to Sweden becoming a member of NATO.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson meanwhile said he appreciates the US support for his country to join the alliance.

The country applied to become a member of NATO in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but Sweden's accession is still being blocked by Turkey and Hungary.

Turkish officials claim Stockholm is harboring terrorists associated with Kurdish militant groups.
