House panel hones in on COVID-19 paper

(Washington, DC)  --  The House panel investigating the origins of COVID-19 is honing in on a 2020 paper concluding the virus did not come from a lab leak.

Republican Congressman Brad Wenstrup said the panel is examining whether scientific integrity was "disregarded in favor of political expediency."

Republicans have claimed the paper was used as a coverup by top health officials to dismiss the lab-leak theory.

Authors of the paper pushed back against the allegations saying they were only motivated to seek the truth about the pandemic's origin.

There's still not clear conclusion on how the coronavirus emerged.
