Burgum still needs to hit polling requirements ahead of GOP Debate

(Fargo, ND) -- The Second Republican Primary debate is weeks away, and the attendance of North Dakota's Governor is still up in the air.

A campaign spokesperson says Burgum has secured the 50,000 individual donations from across the country, but the candidate is still looking for a 3% presence in key polls or he won't be allowed on the stage. A poll conducted by the Washington Post in conjunction with FiveThirtyEight and Ipsos shows Burgum got the name recognition he wanted, with the number of people who had no opinion or never heard of the candidate dropped from 79% to 25%. Burgum also saw a 27-percentage-point bump in the number of people with a favorable view of the candidate, but similarly saw a 25-percentage-point jump in unfavorable views by respondents. 

The GOP debate takes place on September 27th in Simi Valley, California.
