(Washington, D.C.) -- The next vote for Speaker of the House is happening right now, after Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan failed to get a majority on Tuesday.

Jordan, the top Republican nominee, confirmed the news after leaving a meeting Tuesday afternoon. Jordan went on to say he has no plans of dropping out of the speaker battle, emphasizing he had essentially the same amount of traction as former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy did during his first vote. Jordan failed to get the necessary 217 votes during the first ballot of the vote on the House floor, earning just 200 votes.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries received 212 votes from Democrats.
