Biden honors the late Sandra Day O'Connor

(Washington, DC)  --  President Biden is honoring the late Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.

He delivered remarks at her funeral today at the Washington National Cathedral.

He said O'Connor was a pioneer who broke down barriers in the legal and political worlds as well as the "nation's consciousness."

He also recounted his time as ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee when the late justice was nominated to the high court.

O'Connor became the first woman on the Supreme Court after being appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1981.

She died earlier this month at the age of 93.
