U.S. Supreme Court rejects appeal from ex-Minneapolis police officer convicted of violating George Floyd's civil rights

(Minneapolis, MN)  -- The U. S. Supreme Court is rejecting an appeal of an ex-Minneapolis police officer convicted of violating George Floyd's civil rights in 2020.  

Tou Thao was found guilty on two counts of depriving Floyd's rights under color of law. The defendant was accused of failing to intervene in former officer Derek Chauvin's use of unreasonable force. 

Thao was also accused of being deliberately indifferent to Floyd's medical needs while Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck.
