(Burlington, VT)  --  Senator Bernie Sanders says the destruction happening in Gaza is worse than what happened in Dresden, Germany during World War Two.

Speaking on CNN's State of the Union, Sanders reiterated that Israel has the right to defend itself against what he called a "horrific terrorist attack" by Hamas on October 7th. He questioned, however, if Israel is complying with the Foreign Assistance Act, which means acting "within human rights standards and American law" while using military weapons provided by the U.S.

Sanders says he is looking to bring forward a resolution that would aim to investigate possible human rights violations occurring in Gaza. When asked if that resolution has a chance to pass, Sanders said he does not believe the resolution will pass, due to a lack of votes.
