(Bismarck, ND) -- North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum is joining a group of 25 other states who are supporting Texas after the U.S. Supreme Court voted against the state.

The group of Governors say President Biden and his administration have left the country vulnerable to "unprecedented illegal immigration", and are standing behind Texas and their Governor, Greg Abbott.

"“President Biden and his Administration have left Americans and our country completely vulnerable to unprecedented illegal immigration pouring across the Southern border," wrote the governors in a letter Thursday, "Instead of upholding the rule of law and securing the border, the Biden Administration has attacked and sued Texas for stepping up to protect American citizens from historic levels of illegal immigrants, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and terrorists entering our country."

The U.S. Senate is currently in bipartisan negotiation talks, but have faced setbacks due to GOP Presidential Candidate Donald Trump calling for Republican Senators to not approve the bill. House Speaker Mike Johnson has called the proposal "dead on arrival."
