(WDAY Radio)  --  A new study finds babies born to mothers who had COVID while pregnant have "unusually high rates" of respiratory distress.

Previous studies have found contracting COVID while pregnant is associated with adverse health risks for both mothers and newborns, but the new research found there could be long-term consequences for the children. 200 pregnant women took part in the study, and about 17% of their babies were diagnosed with respiratory issues when they were born. Babies of unvaccinated mothers had 3x the likelihood of experiencing respiratory distress.
