(Washington, D.C.) -- House Speaker Mike Johnson is warning the emerging deal linking border policy changes and aid for Ukraine could be dead on arrival in his chamber.

Johnson in a letter to his colleagues said if reports about the contents of the deal under consideration by the Senate are true, the deal won't go anywhere in the House. The letter from Johnson comes as Senate leaders are getting close to an agreement and bill text could be released as soon as next week. Johnson reiterated demand to pass the House GOP's immigration bill known as H.R. 2, even though the plan has no chance of passing the Senate.

The Speaker also announced a House vote will occur soon to impeach DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over his handling of the border.
