(Washington, DC)  --  Republicans are lining up in opposition to the Senate's bipartisan border security and foreign aid package unveiled over the weekend.

House Speaker Mike Johnson says the legislation won't come close to ending what he called the "border catastrophe."  He said the bill will be dead on arrival in the House if it makes it out of the Senate.  Meanwhile, there are questions over whether a majority of the Republican Conference in the Senate will back the package.

While top Republicans like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and lead GOP negotiator Senator James Lankford are defending the bill, a faction of Senators are speaking out against the proposal.  Utah Senator Mike Lee called it a "betrayal," adding that Republicans can kill it in the Senate if 41 oppose it.
