(Washington, D.C.) -- House Republicans have impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, making him the first cabinet official to be impeached in over a century.

Republicans accused Mayorkas of refusing to comply with federal immigration laws when it comes to the Southern Border.  House Majority Leader Steve Scalise was back in Washington after receiving cancer treatments, giving Republicans the necessary votes to overcome their razor-thin majority and get the impeachment over the finish line. Several House Republicans say he committed high crimes and misdemeanors.

Things now head to the Senate, where an acquittal is likely to occur.
