BISMARCK, N.D. – The last time pediatric deaths from influenza were reported in North Dakota was 2016.
This year, the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services says there have been two deaths of children younger than age 10 this year, out of a total of five influenza-associated deaths.
The state isn’t releasing any additional information about the deaths as a way to protect the confidentiality of the patients, but the department says they use national standard criteria when thoroughly investigating pediatric deaths due to either influenza, COVID-19 or RSV.
