(BECKER COUNTY, MINN) – One person is dead following a vehicle versus pedestrian accident Tuesday afternoon in Becker County.
According to Detroit Lakes Police Chief Steve Todd, Becker County Dispatch was notified of a serious accident in the 1500 block of Randolph Road, east of the intersection with Highland Drive, just afternoon noon Tuesday. Emergency responders determined the accident was between a westbound passenger car and a pedestrian on the roadway.
The pedestrian passed away shortly after the accident and has been identified as an 81-year-old man from Detroit Lakes.
The driver of the car has been identified as a 19-year-old female from rural Detroit Lakes.
The roadway was closed for approximately three hours during the response and investigation. The response included members of the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, St. Mary’s EMS, Detroit Lakes Fire Department and Detroit Lakes Public Works.
The investigation remains active, and Detroit Lakes Police say there is no further information available at this time.
