Political newcomer Andrew Rockhold announces run for Minn. District 4 Senate

MOORHEAD, MINN. – A political newcomer has emerged for Minnesota’s Senate District 4 race.

Andrew Rockhold, a Republican, announced his candidacy Monday afternoon.

Senate District 4 is currently represented by Rob Kupec, a DFLer, and includes most of Clay and Becker counties.

He grew up in Missouri and graduated from College of the Ozarks with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After moving to Moorhead with his family, he took a job with the City of Fargo Street Department as an equipment operator.

After a brief stint as a General Manager at a local hotel, he then worked as a car salesman and real estate as a broker and owner of Good News Auto Sales in Fargo. With having a business that operates in North Dakota and living in Minnesota, Rockhold has seen just how unfriendly Minnesota is to small businesses.

“Taxes are skyrocketing and fraud runs rampant in our state government. We are the laughing stock of the nation,” Rockhold said. “We need leaders who will fight for truth and stand for what’s right. Those standards are found in the Bible.”

Rockhold says he is running because he cares about people.

“Politicians make policies and policies affect people. Minnesota policies and its politicians have failed her people,” he said. “That is why I’m running – because we need leaders with a spine of steel who are willing to risk it all to do what’s right.”
