Fmr Minneapolis Cops Charged With Violating George Floyd's Civil Rights

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  Four former Minneapolis police officers are charged with violating George Floyd's civil rights.  Floyd is the unarmed Black man who died while in police custody last year after video showed Derek Chauvin [[ SHO-vin ]] with his knee on Floyd's neck for several minutes.  Chauvin was found guilty last month of killing Floyd.  A grand jury indictment accuses Chauvin of "willfully" depriving Floyd of his right "to be free from an unreasonable seizure."  Prosecutors say that includes Floyd's right to not have unreasonable force used against him.

Tou Thao and J. Alexander Kueng are also charged as they're accused of knowing that Chauvin kept his knee on Floyd's neck even after Floyd was no longer responsive.  Another count names Thomas Lane, who along with the other officers, are accused of seeing that Floyd needed medical attention, but they didn't give it to him.
