Icy roads were a contributing factor in a number of crashes in Northwestern North Dakota Thursday and Friday night.  The State Patrol says freezing rain coated roads making for treacherous conditions, with the Minot area seeing the worst of it.

Troopers responded to numerous crashes and semi’s stuck in the ditch.  A State Patrol squad car was hit by a semi while a Trooper was assisting another driver that hit the ditch. Immediately after that, another semi lost control and also slammed into the squad.  No one was hurt.
