(Hennepin County, MN) -- A newly released search warrant filing says Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson initially denied being the driver to deputies at the scene where his county-issued SUV crashed near Alexandria.
The filing indicates that deputies informed a state trooper arriving at the scene that Hutchinson told them he wasn't driving when the vehicle crashed. The warrant also indicates that there was no one else in or near the vehicle and that an open bottle of bourbon was "observed inside the passenger compartment."
Hutchinson has been sentenced to probation in connection with his guilty plea to drunken driving in the crash.
