(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota public defenders won't be going on strike after reaching a tentative agreement with the leaders of the Minnesota Board of Public Defense.

The deal came during the first day of mediation following last week's strike authorization vote. The agreement includes a retroactive pay increase from July 1st and a three percent increase after July 1, 2022.

A walkout threatened to bring much of the state's court system to a halt.
