(Minneapolis, MN) -- Minnesota lawmakers are discussing a new law legalizing edibles and beverages containing hemp-derived THC and it's affect on the movement to legalize cannabis.

DFL House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler says the door is open to change in Minnesota's marijuana laws. DFL Representative Jess Hanson says the party supports creating a regulated market for legal cannabis. Hanson says it is their 'mission' to legalize marijuana statewide, despite opposition from Republican leaders.

An official with Minnesota minority hemp producer Forty Acre Cooperative calls the new law a step forward for growers.
