(Edmore, ND) -- One paramedic is seriously injured following a rear end crash between a stopped ambulance and a vehicle four miles northeast of Edmore.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says 89-year-old Leonard Klein from Langdon was traveling northbound along State Highway 1 when he encountered an ambulance that was stopped partially on the roadway. The crash report says the ambulance was stopped on the road attending to the injuries of 63-year-old Kathy Borgen from St. Cloud, Florida, who was involved in a previous rollover crash earlier in the day, when Klein struck the ambulance.

Authorities say the strike seriously injured 32-year-old paramedic Taylor Trontvet, along with causing minor injuries to paramedics Megan Diseth (35-years-old), Bruce Berg (67-years-old), and the ambulance driver, Doug Loff (62-years-old). Klein was also seriously injured in the crash. The crash report says Klein was taken by a second ambulance to Langdon Prairie Health for his injuries, with Trontvet and Diseth also being transported to Prairie Health for their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
