(St.Paul, MN) -- Burning restrictions in Central Minnesota go into effect today.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources issued the ban until further notice due to the risk of wildfires. DNR officials say the risk for wildfires is greater after the snow has melted and before plants and vegetation has greened up. The ban applies to Benton, Morrison, Sherburne, Stearns, Wright, and other nearby surrounding counties.
