(Bismarck, ND) -- Senator Kevin Cramer says it's time to push for a criminal justice system more focused on redemption than punishment.

The North Dakota Republican tweeted yesterday that he's pleased the resolution which was introduced by him and Minnesota Democrat Amy Klobuchar passed the Senate this week. It recognizes April as Second Chance Month which promotes awareness of unnecessary legal and social barriers that prevent people with criminal records from becoming productive members of society.

"My resolution with @SenAmyKlobuchar on Second Chance Month passed the Senate last night. It’s time we push for a criminal justice system more focused on redemption than punishment," wrote Sen. Cramer.
