(Bismarck, ND) -- North Dakota's highways will have more officers and deputies watching for fast drivers beginning next week.

Vision Zero's Click it or Ticket campaign is kicking off on Monday, May 22nd and will continue until June 4th. This is happening before North Dakota's new Primary seatbelt law goes into effect on August 1st, meaning law enforcement won't be able to pull you over for someone in the vehicle not wearing a seatbelt for the upcoming campaign. However, following the beginning of August, law enforcement can stop a vehicle if any occupant is not wearing a seatbelt

“Click It or Ticket helps law enforcement educate the public on why seat belts are so important. Our goal is to change behavior in the hopes it saves a life,” said West Fargo Police Chief Denis Otterness.

Vision Zero says preliminary data is showing approximately 69% of crash fatalities were someone who was unbuckled. You can learn more about Vision Zero by clicking here
