(Fargo, ND) -- Mayville State University volleyball coach Lindsey Johnson is citing discrimination as the reason for why her employment contract was not renewed.

"We're hiring coaches and they're starting with zero head coaching experience and they're getting paid 8 to 10 thousand dollars more than I'm currently getting after 15 years of being here," said Johnson.

Johnson says she recently brought up her concerns over pay with the administration, and about a week later learned her contract was not being renewed.

Johnson tells WDAY Radio Now she is currently seeking legal representation.

Johnson says she has a clean record as a coach and professor and wants to return to her job.

Mayville State University President Dr. Brian Van Horn says he won't discuss the matter citing confidentiality.

Johnson spoke with WDAY Radio Now after appearing on the Jay Thomas Show.
