(Bismarck, ND) -- Governor Doug Burgum is seeking federal relief after spring flooding caused more than four-million dollars in damage to North Dakota's roads.

State officials say the governor requested the presidential major-disaster declaration in the hopes of securing FEMA funds to help towns, cities, and counties address critical infrastructure projects.  The administration is also asking for additional federal funds to help communities cover the cost of long-term flood-mitigation projects and improvements.
