(Fargo, ND) -- A recent death row inmate is now expected to live the rest of his life in a Florida High-Security prison.

Alfonzo Rodriguez Jr. was initially sentenced to death for the kidnapping, assault, and murder of UND Student Dru Sjodin in November of 2003. However, his death sentence was overturned September of 2021 because of perceived case errors caused by Rodriguez's defense team. Several legal battles, including a ruling from the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, brought down his initial sentence.
