(Moorhead, MN) -- Ash Trees are being treated by the City of Moorhead to repel Emerald Ash Borer Beetles.

The beetle is an invasive species that kills Ash Trees, and they were found in Moorhead earlier this year. While smaller trees are being removed, larger and healthier trees and being injected with emamectin benzoate, which can protect the trees from the beetles for up to two or three years.

City forestry staff say they are planning on treating 1,700 trees this year.
