Stutsman County state's attorney office facing staff shortage

(Fargo, ND) -- The Stutsman County state's attorney's office is facing staff shortages.

Stutsman County state's attorney Fritz Fremgen told Cass County Commissioners he has been the lone attorney in the office for nearly three weeks.

The assistant state's attorney left for a new position on June 23rd and the chief assistant state's attorney position has been vacant for 17 months.

Fremgen told the commission his office is "competing with Cass County" and higher salaries are needed for the assistants' positions to stay fully staffed.
