Public Cannabis Use To Be Deemed Misdemeanor In East Grand Forks

(East Grand Forks, MN)  --  East Grand Forks city leaders appear set to make public marijuana use a petty misdemeanor.

Recreational marijuana officially became legal in Minnesota on Tuesday, and while state law already classifies using cannabis in public as a petty misdemeanor, it's up to local ordinances to reflect the change in enforcement. If it gets passed, the ordinance will be the first passed by East Grand Forks City Council that regulates cannabis use.

In Minnesota, a petty misdemeanor is punishable by a fine of no more than $300.
