(Bismarck, ND) -- A possible sales tax increase is being discussed by the Burleigh County Home Rule Charter Commission.

The potential half-cent tax would generate over ten-million-dollars in revenue a year. A purpose for the tax revenue generated by the half-cent sales tax is not yet determined. The County Commission is expected to meet in May to find projects to use the generated funds. The current half-cent sales tax will expire at the end of 2024.

The tax increase would need voter approval.
